Comments Thread For: Roach: Canelo-Cotto Rematch Will Happen Before Canelo-Golovkin

Freddie Roach has a dog in the fight, yet he honestly believes a Canelo Alvarez-Miguel Cotto rematch will occur before Alvarez faces Gennady Golovkin. Oscar De La Hoya, whose company promotes Alvarez, has said Alvarez will fight Golovkin in September, assuming both boxers continue to win. De La Hoya's proclamation has been met with intense criticism, though, because he and Alvarez were adamant in the immediate aftermath of Alvarez's knockout of Amir Khan on May 7 that the highly anticipated Alvarez-Golovkin clash would take place last month.

Roach is smoking that triple D again. No way did cotto win that fight. I was there at the Mandalay Bay for the fight. Even the Ricans around me admitted that Canelo won. So I don't wanna see a rematch, Canelo clearly won

Cotto got his ass handed to him, rematch makes sense money wise but it doesn't make sense preparing Canelo for an actual middleweight, but I already knew there would be rematch this cinco de mayo

He can fight Cotto five more times, that's five less PPVs I will buy. Plain and simple.

There is NOTHING to see there, absolutely NOTHING. Waste of time, waste of money. I'm good.

Cotto was at a huge size/weight disadvantage.. Canelo was well over 170 when he stepped into the ring, that's why he always refuses the same day weigh in. Canelo and Oscar's assertion that he needs to build his body up to 160 is so ridiculous and anity lame- ass excuse to delay the fight til GGG is near 40.

The GGG vs Canelo fight was never happening for a few years anyways. GGG needs to be around 37 years old before Oscar feels comfortable putting Canelita in a ring with him.

Golden Boy will go through every recycling bin at it's disposal before putting Alvarez on the GGG firing line. Saul has a solid path to wealth but none to greatness
