Comments Thread: Molina/Joshua Signed and Set!!!

As previously reported #4 Ranked IBF Champion Anthony Joshua 17-0(17KO'S) will defend his IBF title for the second time in the Manchester Arena. After negotiations with #6 Ranked contender Joseph Parker 21-0(18KO'S) and #1 Ranked and Former two time Champion Wladimir Klitschko 64-4(53KO'S) fell through, Joshua needed a quick replacement for the venue. The fighters who were being talked to by Matchroom boxing were #40 Ranked fringe contender David Price 21-3(18KO'S), #15 Ranked Contender Bryant Jennings 19-2(10KO'S), and #23 Ranked Contender Eric Molina 25-3(19KO'S).

At the end after weeks of negotiating Eric Molina was picked. The former title challenger is coming off a two win streak over Journeyman Rodrick Ray 5-9-1(2KO'S) and former two weight champion Tomasz Adamek 50-5(30KO'S). Eric Molina has fallen short in a title challenge before against #3 Ranked WBC Champion Deontay Wilder 37-0(36KO'S).

utter crap if this is peddled as a PPV! Sky subs costs plenty enough to pay for this as a standard broadcast

Anthony Joshua could fight your mother, and it'd still be on Sky Box Office.

With Fury dealing with his personal issues, Klitschko on his way out, and Kell Brook taking his chance against Golovkin (though it's likely still going to be a big fight, Khan's flattening and Brook's stoppage has taken a good amount of luster off if Brook-Khan), Anthony Joshua is the clear-cut and dominant top fighting star in all of the UK and one of the top sheer draws on the planet.

If you were honestly hanging your hat on watching Joshua on regular TV, you must've not been paying attention.

In the good old days a champion fighting a guy ranked 23rd would be unacceptable. He would be expected to fight a top ten contender and preferably a top 5 contender. What's the point of even having rankings if champs like Wilder and Joshua skip the first 22 guys and fight number 23? Wilder already knocked Molina out, Price gets knocked out if you tap his chin with almost any punch and Jennings was recently knocked out by Ortiz. What's does it prove for champions to fight guys who recently lost by KO? They should be fighting the guys who knocked them out and not the guys who got knocked out. Joshua will probably be installed as a 30 to 1 favorite. Another joke heavyweight title fight.
