It was done because CANELO WANTED THAT FIGHT after Lara showed up at his Press Conference. Oscar lost it and took it as if he was being Sabotaged and that Haymon and Schaefer was trying to destroy his Pride and Joy Canelo and that is when things just fell apart "ALLEGEDLY". But Oscar was in and out of Rehab, I think Abner Mares said he would rarely even see Oscar while he was signed to GBP it was Eric Gomez and Schaefer running things. They have the know how while Oscar just have the name Basically!
Proof if this is how overly protective he is of Canelo now and him not wanting to make GGG fight despite what he says to the boxing Media
According to boxing insider Kevin Davis of ***************.com -- who's got an extensive source network in boxing -- the reason for the rift between the two top dogs goes beyond just patching things up with Bob Arum and "company direction."
The boxing insider said the real reason for the internal conflict is Richard Schaefer's focus on Mayweather and other Al Haymon fighters has left Oscar De La Hoya disgruntled with his CEO.
Apparently, De La Hoya is very upset with the decision to match Canelo, GBP's main asset, with Erislandy Lara, a Haymon fighter with limited upside and extremely high risk.
De La Hoya wanted to match Canelo with IBF champion Carlos Molina, which had less risk and would've paid the same.
Moreover, he wants to match Canelo with Manny Pacquiao in a mega PPV event, which is -- again, according to Davis -- why he wants to kiss and make up with Arum.
Canelo is the franchise player, the future building block for GBP and his stock could plummet with a loss to the Cuban southpaw Lara before his marketability can be fully maximized,
Lastly, he feels the core assets of GBP, Latin fighters, have been neglected in favor of Haymon fighters.
Traditionally, the black fighters worked with Haymon while the Hispanic fighters were with Schaefer and Oscar. De La Hoya wants that balance restored.
"I have to protect myself and MY company," De La Hoya has said repeatedly over the last week. "I don't have a problem with Al Haymon. But I have to protect myself."
When asked about the Canelo fight, Schaefer simply said, "Ask Oscar." Accordingly, De La Hoya is managing the Canelo-Lara press tour on his own, the first time he has done so ever.
Ultimately, De La Hoya wants Schaefer back to follow his vision. Schaefer wants to only work with Pacquiao if he can rid himself of Top Rank.
Schaefer allegedly wants to ditch GBP, along with all the Haymon fighters, which would leave GBP a mere vestige of what it is today. De La Hoya wants to prevent it.
Both guys have lawyered up.
Just another's chapter to the ongoing theater of the truly unexpected.Comment

All Oscar cares about is Canelo Allegedly while Gomez and Schaefer was showcasing everybody and Oscar allegedly lost it and it was a big argument at GBP Office when he found out about Canelo vs Lara which was done while he was in Rehab if I'm not mistaken.
