New Zealand heavyweight Joseph Parker is set to fight for a world heavyweight title, but as previously reported it might take place in the United States rather than Auckland because of financial constraints.

They mean to say they want the fight in New Zealand so they can ensure Parker gets the win courtesy of some home cooking, if necessary.

If it happens in America hold it in LA.. Massive Mexican and a good size Polynesian population and they support their own.

Neutral ground would be good for me, UK or China. Both of these guys are suspect of being built up. Parker (his team) is crying too much about fighting at home. That raises a red flag for me every time. Having the fight at home is OK, but moving heaven and earth to have it at home? They don't have much faith in him, why should the gov. Ruiz by KO.

Hope it goes to New Zealand as would do wonders over there for the sport of boxing. But this proves that Parker will eventually leave Duco events as clearly they wont be able to cover his purses.

I think this fiasco spells the beginning of the end for DUCO as Parker's promoter.

Lonergan was on the radio the other day talking about how this fight HAS to be made in December, because DUCO don't have the resource to organize it in the first quarter of 2017 - as they are already organizing events such as the Auckland 9's (rugby league comp) etc.

I'm sorry, but if you're giving a top fighter the smallest window to do things because you don't employ enough people to run a business effectively, you should be cut.

Nonetheless, I hope this gets organized soon - and so do Burger King outlets in the wider-Auckland region. With Ruiz coming to town, they need to double their supplies.

Reckon they have the finances sorted (or could get them easy).

They want the fight as soon as possible because the less time Ruiz has to get in shape the better. He sounded pretty motivated for this fight as it's a really good opportunity for him. Taking Parker's mandatory spot for Joshua means payday.

If they can hold the 9s - with all the costs involved in holding such a massive tournament with so many players - they can hold an event for a sport that only involves 2 athletes.
