Golden boy is a better promotional company, the problem is they lost most of their top fighters.

Please tell me what fights have made them better? Their best fights have been inconsequential like the Vargas one. Yeah a foty candidate, but doesn't move a needle in the bigger picture the way Porter-Thurman did. Canelo's fights are constant tune-ups and the only one with significance since De La Hoya took the reins was the cotto fight. Now they have B-Hop retiring against a guy with one good flash KO win. GB is dying slowly and relying on Canelo to keep them afloat

Its crazy that you had to go the span of 4 years to knock the fights and one of them was with a consensus top 4 in the division at the time who was also a champion. All the Canelo fights were back to back except the Khan one because Cotto came in the middle.

Golden Boy is lost without Schaefer. That's why they couldn't hold on to Ortiz who's potentially the best HW out there but didn't even know how to promote him properly, pure incompetence. The way the HW division is shaping up, no good promoter would've let this guy get away.

Isnt all of PBC ex Goldenboy fighters, if GB had all those fighter they would have better option to make better fights. Haymond should have done this on 2016, not 2017. He had no other choice becuase PBC was failing,he has to make good matches. Its only logical,u can cherrypick for so long then ppl will get tired.

How successful would Shaefer have been if he didn't have ODL name to go out and pitch to sponser's and fighters? People forget that ODL was one of the biggest star's in all of sports and one of the most recognizable athletes in the world when GBP started. Everyone network and sponsor wanted to be associated with him.
Bean counters like Shaefer are a dime a dozen. He did a good job managing business relationships but he wouldn't have gotten started without Oscar. What a true piece of **** to take advantage of that and try and screw ODL behind his back. Even if Shaefer has success in his new venture it all comes back to being made by have a relationship with ODL.
