Comments Thread For: Canelo: It Would Be an Honor To Rematch Miguel Cotto

The first Cotto fight was a chance for Alvarez to prove he wasn't a hype job. Sure, Cotto was years past his prime but he was still viewed by many as a top guy and he was (bogus) MW champ.
Cotto lacked the power to hurt Alvarez and Miguel's been knocked down more times than I can remember but Alvarez couldn't stop Cotto or even win decisively against the older, smaller, slower fighter.
That said, a rematch does nothing tor Alvarez's rep besides reminding people that he and Oscar refuse to fight anyone who is a threat to beat him.Last edited by ruedboy; 10-21-2016, 08:09 AM.

Money aside that fight does nothing for Canelo. If he wants to be considered the best fighter currently then he needs to take the step up and fight GGG or at the very least fight Andrade or one of the other top LMW's.
I still believe Cotto won the first fight but Cotto is now well passed his best, I dont think that fight will be nearly as close a second time round.
I'm sure he will do the same for GGG after he beats him.

A-side?? 90-10 split? Almost word for word what they said about Ward. There even going to mess with him even more on that Jacobs 75-25 split.

Cotto got $15 million and Canelo $5.
After all the sales and such Cotto made $58,000,000
"Cotto vs. Canelo purses: Alvarez takes less to gain more"
"Canelo truly wants to be viewed as a great fighter and a genuine PPV star, it was in his best interest to make whatever concessions necessary to make this opportunity happen.”
Something GGG wil NEVER do!
