Just for a bit of fun, lets say you're starting off as a boxing promoter and have a reasonable budget, similar to somebody like Kathy Duva, you haven't got any fighters signed atm and you're looking to sign up 10 fighters to begin with, who do you sign? It's your first year of promoting, you have 3 HBO/Showtime dates, you can have 3/4 fights on each card.
What would you look for in a fighter? How good they are skillwise, how exciting they are, how marketable they are?
For me it would be a combination of those things. I would sign some hungry, unknown fighters who I know have got the skill and will to make a name for themselves, I wouldn't sign already proven stars because it would be a lot more satisfying to make my own stars and already proven fighters would obviously take up a lot more of my budget.
Anyway, here's my 10 man stable:
Jason Sosa 130 - no nonsense fighter, had to work his way up, willing to fight anyone and very affordable
Salido 130 - battle proven warrior and a fan favourite, nobody wants to miss a Salido fight. Fights for peanuts as well, a promoter's dream
Commey 135 - young, hungry, fan-friendly style and talented
Granados 140 - one of the most underrated fighters in the sport today, been fed to lions time and time again, hasn't always won but he's always made the lion work for it, future champ imo
Felix Diaz 140 - another one of boxing's most underrated, extremely skilled and tough, Olympic gold medalist, should be undefeated as a pro, seems willing to fight anyone at 140 or 147
Ponomarev 147 - very young, skilled and exciting. High ceiling and potentially very marketable
Castano 154 - the darkhorse at 154 imo, very fast and explosive, gonna be a problem for anyone at 154
Chilemba 175 - solid contender, doesn't turn down any challenges, very easy to work with
Ugonoh heavyweight - bit of an unknown, but passes the eye test with a blindfold, so worth the gamble. Sound fundamentals, real power and athleticism. Could be a winning lottery ticket
There you have it. Most of these guys are either unknowns or prospects, but they're affordable and potentially future stars, with the exception of 1 or 2 proven veterans, which every stable needs.
Be smart when picking your stable, think long term and which fighters would be easy to work with.
GO!

I really like what I see in the guy. Don't think he is a world beater, but a guy that I think can be matched well and have a solid career.
