Comments Thread For: Hooker: 140 is a Tough Division, Terence Crawford is Top Dog

Rising 140 pound prospect Maurice Hooker (21-0-2) will return to the ring for the third time this year when he faces Darleys Perez (33-2-1) at the T-Mobile Arena on the Sergey Kovalev versus Andre Ward pay-per-view undercard.

If he continues to win, is he willing to eventually fight Crawford? Why the heck isn't Crawford more active? He beat Postol, now keep the fights coming! I just don't understand why these super talented fighters decide to only fight twice a year. (I understand, but I don't think the reasons are legitimate and I'm expressing frustration.)

No disrespect to Hooker, he's coming up, but maybe Crawford isn't keeping more active at 140 because the division is exactly brimming with top level/ high reward competition right now.

Plus I'm pretty sure its hard to get fighter to commit to stepping into the ring with Crawford. You can't fight if no one wants to fight you.

Hooker got time, just wished Matthysse got better managers cuz I don't know who told him 147 was a good idea, 140 is his best weight and he could still do something there (albeit he's past his prime tho).

          Crawford
          Postol
          Provodnikov
          Molina
          Diaz Jr
          Matthysse(if he'd stayed down)
          Broner
          Etc.

That's okay. Fight the next one up. Fight anyone in the top 10. Unify the belts. If not, move up to 147 where there is plenty of competition. He has the size to move up. That's a lot better than just sitting around waiting for a better fighter to blossom. Stay active and the fans will demand fights to be made. Stay quiet and you fade into obscurity.
