yeah floyd was trying to find his first 135 opponent...ex featherweight alejandro gonzalez. sounds like floyd to me!

did you also miss the part where it said HBO would simply bench Mayweather and give his date away instead of arguing over opponents. "They're not going to put up with this much longer,"

so this proves that floyd was always a cherry picker but the difference is hbo used to stand up to him and forced him to take tought fights like castillo. by the time floyd got to 147 he was too powerful and popular and hbo couldn't tell him who to fight so we got crap fights like sharmba and judah instead of marg and dont be silly no one would say he should have fought judah coming off a loss to a bum instead of marg. makes no sense and you know it.

floyd would have fought marg if he was confident in beating him but he wasn't and thats all there is to it. marg was #1, his biggest payday, and brought the mexican fanbase that mayweather always sought. he just wasn't confident enough to face him so he fought guys like judah, mitchell, baldomir, and retired until marg was out of the picture. so yes floyd ducked a slick fighter named antonio margarito.
Why did he fight the champion straight away instead of Stevie Johnston then? If he was forced and he had a choice to make, Johnston would've been the easier tune up fight. Gonzalez wasn't a bum either, Gonzalez was already a Lightweight for 3 years in 2002 and had wins over Steve Forbes and Orlando Salido, Stevie Johnston himself almost lost to him on the same night Floyd fought Castillo.

HBO where the ones who called for the Sharmba Mitchell fight. Judah was coming off a loss, so Floyd beat him AND the guy who beat him (Baldomir was the lineal champion in 2006, non Margarito). By the time Margarito was relevant Floyd was having a ton of problems with Bob Arum, who also promote Floyd and refused to give him the money he wanted which lead to Floyd buying out his contract and making the best fight for him at the time (which made him a superstar) against Oscar Dela Hoya. Margarito's best win by 2006 was against Kermit freaking Cintron! He held the least meaningful belt at 147 which was the WBO belt. Plus his secret weapon was discovered and it has been nothing but TKO losses since the day he got caught, that's all you need to know about Antonio Margarito.

But floyd has always took different routes if possible.
To be fair, when did Brook and Floyd's paths ever really cross that a fight was possible?

I'm a fan of Brook but was hardly on the radar or fought anybody until be beat Porter, which was around the time Floyd was due to fight the second Maidana fight. After that Brook got stabbed, and in the time he was out injured or fighting Jo Jo Dan and co., Floyd had beat Manny and was looking for at his retirement fight while Brook was busy fighting people like Gavin after coming back from a severe injury.

There has been no real time when Floyd and Brook could have fought since Brook has been an established world champ kind of fighter.

It's easy to say certain fights should have happened or could have happened, but in reality when you look at the details, quite often it's not true.

Mayweather is the most overrated pos in history.

When i grew up in the 80's all those mean MF would have KO the Gay one.

He made his career out of cherrypicking over the hill guys, green guys, etc.

Maidana didn't have anywhere near the stamina to keep up such an assault - and anyone who would have had a chance against tbe would have to have better stamina than him. None of who he faced could outwork him over 12.

none of those five are anywhere near one-dimensional. All five of them gave floyd at least some problems.

I'll even throw tony pep in there even though he's not technically black as an example of a fighter floyd couldn't literally embarrass.
yes, and floyd was also 37 when he fought maidana i think!

Castillo gave Floyd fits in the first fight. Rough housing technology goes a long way, depending on opposition.

                      Norris is right.

                      Several would have KO'd jr

                      BUT

We would have missed those fights because the Fraud would have chickened out

Tommy Hearns would have retired jr by scrambling his mind like he did Duran
