Kovalev wins this fight. Not only does he punch considerably harder than anyone Ward has ever fought but he is also very skilled and the naturally bigger and stronger man. I can't see Ward being able to outbox him with getting tagged himself and when he does he'll either get KOed or fight in survival mode for the rest of the fight.

I tend to believe Ward when he talks like this. He's a lot smarter than the average fighter....which is why...

Gun to my head, I have to pick Ward by decision.

I have a feeling this fight could become a Trinidad vs. Wright outcome.

I'm starting to wonder if Golovkin was crazy like a fox against Kell, willing to take punches in order to turn it into a brawl. Some people say he was exposed, but fighting the way he did he didn't have to outbox the faster boxer. He could lose a couple rounds to land his own power. I bring this up because I wonder if Kovalev should do the same thing. Especially if he gets outboxed the first three rounds. I feel like people wait way too long to go for broke when they are losing round after round. Kovalev should just swing for the fences before he is gassed round 10 on.

enjoy the pre fight build up, soak in the atmosphere on fight night cause this is your last taste of it andre. After november 19th, your days of fighting in the big leagues is over mate, and them big paydays will be long gone. Best you find another manager to sue or something.

yeah thats exactly what i think kovalev should do. I put a thread on it 'was ggg v brook the blueprint for kovalev v ward' GGG looked clumsy at times but he turned a potentially hard night at the office against a skillful opponent into an easy one by fighting to his strengths. And kovalev should do it from round 1, theres no real point in 'feeling out' rounds, cause wards going to win them if they are fought at a slow pace. If you piss about during the start of the fight you can find yourself 4 rounds down on the scorecards before you even start throwing, Quigg v frampton was a good one, guy didnt start pressuring until it was too late, and when he did he pretty much clean sweeped the last third of the fight.

Kovalev dosent really rely on just power anyway. He dosent load up on his punches. He works behind the jab, maintains a distance and goes to the body pretty decent. And yes, when an opening presents itself, he looks to drop the right hand.

The only bet I would make is that there will be very little action - no knock downs, nobody walking on kweer street, no nothing. Be like a re-run of the Floyd vs Pacman. Ward will be either too far away to tag or right up close and smothering Kovalev then getting those sneaky shots off after the break. It's a formula for success.

Never thought about it like that before, he could gas and get KO'd but he's got a slim chance of winning by boxing. Ward isn't going to let him sit comfortably in letting his shots go, so taking some to give some could be the best option.

I think Ward is saying that just because Kovalev can hurt him doesn't mean that he will keep him from implementing his own plan.
Unfortunately, that's exactly what's going to happen.
