      Wtf...

The dude has gradually upped his competition, from a teenage hype job to fighting old veterans like baldomir and mosely,, to fighting top caliber guys like lara, floyd, trout, cotto..

Anyone that has wins over Cotto, lara, trout isn't a chump

Well, back in 1960 when Ali won, they weren't many champions that were olympic champions too, besides Floyd Patterson, Pascual Perez and Fidel LaBarba, so the hype with him started after he turned pro.
Ray did have a good following in the us, but he didn't like it to get interviewed without his team, so the whole team caught the spotlight with Ray and Howard getting more hype than the rest, but it wasn't as big either because like Ali, Ray started a trend of Olympic champions turned stars, but he did it in the lower weights.
The Oscar case was special, he was a star before the olympics, at the goodwill games he already had a huge fan base and he was filling buildings with thousands of persons to hear him talk about his pro debut.
I think the best case to compare with Shakur is the case of Mayweather, neither won gold, both at lower weights, both at 19 and Shakur has the support of great pro's (Ray Leonard, Floyd, Ward, T-Crawford, etc...) so i can see Shakur getting a good start in his pro career.

We've only ever seen Canelo face C level guys. Let's wait till he faces real opposition before we make a decision on this red headed up and comer, fellows.
