WW is another division like HW, where we just seem to be waiting and waiting for the big fights to happen. We did get Thurman-Porter last year which was good but unfortunately Khan and Brook both moved up to take big fights which they had very little chance of winning and it doesn't look like Brook will now be returning.

Garcia has taken a gap year (or 2) and for Spence the education is now over and we have to see him in a big fight next year.

Plus we have Pacquaio, Bradley and Vargas who are all in their own side league and never likely to be matched against anyone but one of their own.

Garcia's a very capable counter puncher that can find the openings in Thurman's open style. Same goes for Thurman.

Hope this fight happens because I think it would play out very entertainingly and competitively.

I see it as; his power was always rooted in his timing and his timing is slipping at 147. Very few act like Thurman is a boogeyman anymore. I can't get with what Danny is saying here. Though, I do think people are writing Danny off too quickly.

Thurman lost to Porter. Hit him with his best shots and Shawn walked through them. Danny's iron chin took Matthysse's punches. Thurman is a cake walk for this guy.

Yes and Matthysse was winning every round until he got LACED in the eye, and broke or swoll his orbital bone or some ****. Then his vision went, and he felt intense pain every time Danny touched him, which made him gunshy to come forward and throw punches. And a power puncher who is in too much pain to throw punches is a sitting duck.

That win was a fluke. Matthysse was and has always been the better fighter, as shown by him beating Garcia before the eye injury, as shown by their performances against similar level opposition like Peterson where Garcia struggled, and Matthysse dominated, or Provodnikov where Matthysse kicked ass but Garcia struggled with Herrera who fought Provo even.

As for Matthysse never being the same, yeah his eye has never been the same. He was also willing to fight Postol when Garcia wasn't, and again was winning easily before his eye went.

What we had 5 years ago was like 15 hype jobs, to various extents, come on the scene. Broner. Garcia. Alexander. Khan. When you start with that many, it's just statistical probability that one or two will make it awhile without catching an official 0, especially with the competition Haymon feeds them. It's not hate for Danny, it's just recognition that he is the one statistical anomaly, and there was bound to be at least one, who got lucky and never got an official loss. That's because Haymon's matchmaking strategy is based around working up to only one single difficult fight for his guy. So everything worked up to Garcia-Matthysse, and that was when Garcia would have gotten exposed, except he laced Matthysse's eye, allowing him to get past that one test. And ever since then he's never gotten another real test, so what do you expect?

Now finally he might get his second actual good opponent, Thurman, and just like Matthysse, he will lose easily unless he gets lucky.

So that's all it is. Boxing fans just want reality to set in. Garcia is overrated and his dad seems to know it which is why they keep ducking top fighters. Boxing fans just want to see happen what they already know is reality, and have overrated fighters like Garcia stop being touted as top guys.

Who is Garcia avoiding? The guy just moved up to WW a couple fights ago and is already setting his sights on Thurman. Like he said people think this guy is superman so he wants to set the record straight. Second good fight? He was thrown in with Amir Khan and people at the time were acting like Danny was gettting sacrificed. Now all of a sudden that's not a good win? He KO'd the ariza shake drinking Khan FFS! As for Matthysse, he thought he could walk through Dannys left hook and paid the price. What you call luck is actually skill. It wasn't luck that Matthysse's eye went, there was a reason for it. You already are saying when Danny beats Thurman it will be luck. Like DSG doesn't have something to do with what is happening. Its an absurd arguement. FYI I didn't think Lucas dominated Provo. He squeaked out a win and faded late in that fight.
