That is the fight the want. It gives them a belt that GGG isn't a mandatory for. Where they can fight a few mandatories and make more money, and then be in a better position leverage wise when it comes time to negotiate a fight with GGG in the future, since GGG isn't even ranked in the top 15 in the WBO, they can negotiate from the stand of having the last belt at 160, and not being a mandatory that can be forced to fight him.
No way Suanders chooses Jacobs over GGG. He'd lose to both but upside is much better than GGG.

Team GGG always make the mistake of putting all their eggs in one basket but i don't think Jacobs is that dumb

jacobs did under 400K against peter quillin on showtime. the arena was hardly half full and the two fighters were both from brooklyn!

golovkin did 1.2 million against a no hoper named dominic wade. sold out an arena in the same city and he was born in kazahkstan .

you guys don't understand basic boxing economics. just because quillin and jacobs were overpaid and made showtime lost a f#cking assload of money, doesn't mean jacob's deserves more than 25% to fight for golovkin's title if the fight goes to purse bid. that's what a purse bid is. it's the last stand to make a mandatory fight happen.

jacob's people would take this fight if they thought he would win. they'd take the short money and jacob's would be positioned to fight on ppv for the immediate future. he'd become a star overnight. golvokin is arguably the third biggest draw in american boxing outside of pacquiao and canelo. cotto's a bigger draw, but he's got to come out of retirement first. same with floyd, obviously.

you guys just don't have an objective bone in your body. you don't.

You make solid points. However, you are forgetting that Value and worth are 2 different things.

As an example, BJS isn't worth $3 mil but his belt has value so K2 made him an offer that would have overpaid him.

Jacobs may not be worth 25% in a "normal" world. but when the WBA orders the fight and a purse bid means Haymon could win the bid. If that happens, GGG could be forced to vacate since HBO isn't going to allow him to fight on another network. Jacobs value has increased given the circumstances.

What does Jalen Rose always say-worth is determined by the power you have to negotiate.

that is pure speculation on your part. The truth is that we dont know what Peter Nelson will do if K2 loses the bid...........

Seriously, we don't know for sure but is it really a stretch suggesting HBO isn't going to allow their 2nd highest profile signed boxer not fight on another network if a Haymon affiliated promoter wins the purse bid and takes the fight elsewhere?

Not sure what Loeffler's going to do, if it isn't to offer Jacobs a boat load of money. And if that's the case, why didn't he just do that in the beginning?

I think Saunders team is more confident they could beat Jacobs than they are that they could beat GGG, and they could make a UK show out of it and do good money. And if Saunders wins, it would gain him American TV coverage most likely, and strengthen his negotiations with GGG.

GGG's team offered Saunders 1.5 mil to fight him with K2 wanting the fight in the UK. Why would Saunders agree to 1.5 mil when fighting in his hometown? K2 wanted all the money for GGG. Would GGG take the 1.5 mil to fight Saunders with Frank Warren running the show in the UK? We all the know the reason the Brook fight happened, Hearn paid Brook and GGG 5 mil each. If it was K2 they would have never paid Brook more than 1.5 mil. I could see Jacobs walking away from the purse bid especially if he's getting low balled and striking a deal to face Saunders in the UK where both would make more money fighting each other than facing GGG.

I dont think its that much of a stretch. To me its actually a win-win for HBO, especially considering their current budget situation.

Think about it, if GGG wins, then HBO got Haymon to fund the continued rise of their fighter, and they may even pick up some new subscribers from the showtime / ppv viewers who dont currently have HBO

and god forbid GGG lose, then again it happened on someone elses dime, and if HBO chooses to air his "rebuilding", it would come at a much lower cost.

If this were a MAJOR ppv such as Canelo-GGG, I would totally agree with you about HBO standing firm. But it isnt. Jacobs is no superstar, and HBO loses nothing by allowing the fight to air elsewhere.....
