Haymon doesn't do business with HBO, remember? You add that Espinoza has also seemed to make it clear that he's bringing money (though I seriously doubt that he covers all of the money), and it's going to come down to how much flexibility Golovkin has in his exclusive deal with HBO.

That way he could get Jacobs out of the fight, "let it marinate", get the belt, claim GGG ducked them, and not even have to pay anyone once GGG pulled out. Feel free to correct me if any of that is wrong, I don't really know the finer details of contracts in boxing.
HBO isn't going to ever put Golovkin, for as long as they have him signed, in a competitive fight where they don't have the event, full stop. Same thing they did with Kovalev.

Everyone knows that it's a risky fight, for both guys, but Haymon seems more than willing to have Jacobs take that chance, wherever that ends up being, as long as Jacobs is comfortable with the money on the fight.

Golovkin and his camp refusing to give any kind of concession makes things quite obvious.

Also, which Canelo fight are you speaking of? If Alvarez-Smith did 250k alleged PPV buys, you'd imagine that Golovkin-Jacobs could pull in something similar (especially if paired with two fights that Canadians would seemingly be interested in seeing).

With DiBella basically not expecting much from Canada, have Michel keep the Canadian TV money (or most of it). If adding a Canadian to the bill puts an extra $1m into the pot for DiBella, that looks like a win/win for me.
Well the issue here is that the provincial athletic commission insist on same day weigh in. Some say this is good some say its bad, the sanctioning bodies prefer day before weigh ins so that is why there are no big fights here. AStevenson defended vs Karpency here and that was the first world title fight held here in a long time probably since Ali-Chuvalo! and afterwards WBC stated they would not have their belts defended in Ontario under those weigh in rules. As far as Canadian interest, guys like Rivas, Bizier, they are only known by their friends, families and neighbours. In this country we rely on US broadcasts there is no Canadian sports channel producing any regularly shown content. It's too bad but boxing is definitely the hardest sport to be a fan of in this country ...TSN and Sportsnet would rather show poker? wtf?

Risky fight for ggg? Well then you should put a huge bet on Jacobs because he will be a massive underdog. Post your betting slips like big bro.

Jacobs is a prime, 29-year old, full-sized middleweight, with boxing skill, an awkward switch-hitting style, with pop in both hands. Golovkin uses his face for defense.

Not going to jinx a fight with putting down a bet (let alone put down enough money down on a fight to even bother with betting slips), but there's a reason why K2 has spent a month in the negotiations, after going as long as they possibly could without even mentioning Jacobs as a possible fight (compared to how quickly every other matchup has been put together).

Jacobs is a live dog, regardless of what folks want to imagine.

This is a complete misrepresentation of the facts. This is a lie... Complete and total lie.

Jacob a live dog more so a dead dog. Many people are delusional and trying to make Jacob something he isn't. Jacob is a c class bum and is a waste of time for ggg. I would say ggg wants this fight because he knows Jacob is Garbage and people who don't know $h!t about boxing thinks jacob is a threat to ggg. I rather see ggg go up in weight instead

One of the ways the fight doesn't happen is if Team Jacobs wins the bid and puts the fight on Showtime. GGG vacates instead of violating his deal with HBO. (Think of Kovalev dropping out of purse bid with Adonis). The 75/25 split almost guarantees that Team Jacobs does not win the purse bid – why bid a massive amount to pay the other guy the lion's share? I know Haymon bid $5M for Deontay/Povetkin, but that was not a 25% split for Deontay.

My understanding is that Jacobs can fight on HBO, so he can fight if Team GGG wins the bid or if the two sides make a deal.

This has to leave Jacobs and his team very bitter. 75-25 sucks for a fight that won't even generate a lot of money, so it will be 75-25 from a small amount

Sucks for jacobs... He wanted 60/40..

I thought wbc was going to be fair and meet in the middle and do 65/35 or 70/30, especially considering this will be a huge fight, especially in Brooklyn..
