He's both tongue in cheek and serious. They just gave away their strategy. They are working hard on fitness and will try to pressure Ward late in the fight and hope Sergey's power wears him down and stops him. They expect Ward to pitty patter and move around in the first half of the fight while Sergey keeps him at bay and slows him down and then make a charge late.

The biggest challenge will be teaching Kovalev an entire new type of boxing, which is the grappling sort of in fighting Ward is capable of drawing a guy into. You not only have to be able to defend yourself in that situation, you must get in shots as well. Learning how to dirty box is one thing but doing it against the master of that game is something else. And, it's counter to everything Kovalev knows.

Against Hopkins, the strategy was simple and brilliant; a quick step back. Problem is, Ward is too large and mobile for Kov to successfully evade him the whole night. I think the best strategy is to step back when possible, and otherwise hold on tight and stall until the ref breaks it up. If you try to hit back the ref is going to let you guys grind and Ward will win that exchange.
