Lets disect your statements. This myth that because multiple events on the same day don't line up, doesn't affect the views is BS. You cannot quantify the exact affect, how ever it is well known that multiple major sporting events on the same day, can affect the viewership of smaller events. Chavez jr vs Martinez happened in 2012, the world cup is every 4 years, so there was no world cup, no olympic qualifiers, and no hoarses running for the tripple crown. Judah was Cotto's first fight on ppv, he had never fought ppv prior, and there was no co event anchor, when you take in the totality of the circumstances 250k is legit, especially when you consider, Mayweather vs Judah did 374k. Unless you really think Canelo would do 300k against Smith as a first ever PPV with no exposure. Mayorga was way past it, the fight should have never been on PPV and it still did 250k, I believe it's comparible to Canelo vs Smith.

people need to realize who he fought,a total nobody,never had smith fought anybody known,he's totally unknown,,,and to do close to 300k isn't bad considering that,,,,look at other fighters,when cotto fought Judah,and cotto was known and so was Judah,that did under 300k,when cotto fought mayorga,under 300k,,and those two opponents were known,ex champs,when cotto fought Martinez,that was for history,4th division to become a champ,maritnez obviously better known than smith,by a lot,and that did like 350k..so in reality close to 300k isn't bad when he's facing a guy like smith...there is no other fighter right now that can face a totally unknown guy and do 300k...except for pacquiao,..nobody

Cotto is not ****** enough to fight on PPV against a nobodie. Canelo's PPV did less than 300k. And when Cotto fought Martinez on PPV, there was a hoarse going for the tripple crown, puerto rico mens basketball team was playing in an olympic qualifier, and the event was up against the world cup tournament. I have always said Cotto would have far better numbers if he did not fight on the weekend of the Puerto Rican parade. I believe Cotto has a built in audience of about 300-400k fans that will watch any fight he is in.
