Stephen A Smith will be interesting, he might be so pro vargas and say ohhhh did you see that punch land on Pacquiao face? ohhhh man Pacquiao is going to get put to sleep again!

Hol up..."Black Howard Cosell"?? I'm sorry, but I have never in my life heard something so disrespectful in my life. Howard Cosell was THE voice of boxing on the radio. Period. He was one of the best speakers I've heard in my life and he brought you into the fight like nobody has since, not even Lampley who tries hard. I'm fine with current and former boxers doing ringside, but this guy? Has no business there. If I hear him call a jab a power punch, I will cut the broadcast off.

Never was a huge Cosell fan, although he wasn't bad... but this Smith poser is really just a bad imitation of Cosell. Come fight night though, when the broadcast goes live, you'll see someone who is so far outta touch it will be embarrassing to the sport.

My 'litmus test' for a commentator is basically... do they keep referring to a fighter by their nickname? Do they use old tired boxing expressions (sweet science, etc)? Do they refer to the most common boxing stories to compare to a sequence in the fight? I'm sure Smith will 'Goober up' the entire broadcast with that clap trap.

They should have let Skip Bayless call the fight. He's a pactard. He would have brought the biased excitement. Oh well I'll tune in just because of Stephen A. This fight is gonna break 1 million buys because Stephen A is calling the fight. He probably got offered 7 figures to call this fight. Bringing in the Floyd guys.

Arum used to be brilliant at promoting fights with new and creative ideas. Fights that didn't belong on ppv.

He's never been scared to lose money on events, he's still thenonly promoter willing to do ppv without a major network behind it.

But his age is getting the best of him IMO.

I do think he may have something special with the new kid Conlan. Top rank desperately needs that kid to save their future...
