  • Comments Thread For: Stephen A. Smith Nervous As Hell' About Calling Pacquiao-Vargas

Stephen A. Smith is the first to admit that he'll be out of his broadcasting element November 5. Smith will serve as an analyst for a live boxing broadcast for the first time that night, when he'll help call the Manny Pacquiao-Jessie Vargas pay-per-view card from Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. As brutally honest as usual, the outspoken ESPN personality didn't pull any punches when assessing his role on Bob Arum's hand-picked broadcast team, which also includes former ESPN boxing analyst Brian Kenny and two-division champion Timothy Bradley.

Wow!! Pacquiao-Vargas is a bigger joke than I thought. They should cancel the Thomas &Mack and have it instead at a local comedy club.... shout out to Max for getting his screaming buddy a job, though.

I can't lie. I was surprised that they picked SAS. I'm not saying that it is good or bad. Just unexpected. He's right though. He is the weakest link and he is polarizing for many. I doubt it affects who buys the card, but you never know. If he has as much knowledge as he indicates, he'll be fine...

I love comedy, it's basically the only section out of the paper that I really read. I'll always have time for a laugh, life is far too gloomy as is. You should make sure to have yourself a chuckle as well today.

                  Hol up..."Black Howard Cosell"??

I'm sorry, but I have never in my life heard something so disrespectful in my life.

Howard Cosell was THE voice of boxing on the radio. Period. He was one of the best speakers I've heard in my life and he brought you into the fight like nobody has since, not even Lampley who tries hard.

I'm fine with current and former boxers doing ringside, but this guy? Has no business there. If I hear him call a jab a power punch, I will cut the broadcast off.

How could you forget about this fight? It has been reasonably promoted. You know I had a teacher that suffered from dementia early in life. I think it's hereditary,so you may have to check your family tree. I'm glad that you see the humor in this fight as well... anyways have a great day, and I hope that all is well with you.
