Gatti in is a total joke which doesn't say much about the selectors... doors I would take Vasquez over Taylor he was a much better fighter...

          Johnny Tapia

          Holyfield

          Marco Antonio Barrera

Where the hell is diego corrales? he died the same year as Gatti was definitely more accomplished and had his share of classics

Gilberto Roman is long overdue and one of the greatest 115 fighters ever

          Sung Kil Moon

Fernando Vargas gets my vote...youngest champion ever at 154(sorry canelo beat friggin matthew hatton for a vacant belt)....he fought simply the best of his era at 154 and won some (wright, campas, RauL mARQUEZ) AND lost some....he never ran from a challenge and only fighter that isnt a hall of famer he lost to was Ricardo Mayorga. Vargas was clearly a spent force, back problems, etc by his last fight

          he was moved to fast

MAB and Holyfield are obviously gonna get it but dam there is some pretty fierce competition for the rest of the lot. Several people you might have guessed were already in the HOF if you didn't know better.

they obviously considered more than who he beat and when, who beat him and when, etc. gatti is considered the most exciting fighter ever by a lot of different historians. he may be the consensus for the most entertaining fighter ever.

huge hitter, bad defense, bled all over the place, and great powers of recuperation. he was the perfect storm of an action fighter, and i'd be shocked if i see a more exciting fighter in my lifetime.

they also obviously considered the timeliness of his death. the guy was not old, and died tragically and really quite mysteriously.

i don't have a ton of beef with the most exciting fighter of all time getting into the hall of fame. we watch boxing for its compelling component of entertainment, after all. if you weren't entertained during a gatti fight you are in the wrong sport and don't understand what you're watching.

Nigel Benn needs to be in there. No English fighters went to America and destroyed their baddest guy (Barkley) like that. He had a unique style (super-exciting) and the McClellan fight was legendary - nobody else would even step in with G-Man at the time. Great fighter Nigel Benn - nine WBC defenses in the shortest time in history!

Benn beating Barkley (who beat Hearns) doesn't mean that Benn > Hearns, by any stretch of the imagination. Barkley was an average fighter who just had Hearns' number. Barkley's record was 43-19. When he lost to Benn, Barkley was already coming off back-to-back losses to Duran and Michael Nunn.
Many scored the Duran fight to Barkley and the Nunn fight a draw. Barkley was far from average, knocking out severe talent like Olajide and Hearns, beating James Kinchen and outboxing Hearns over 12, and moving DOWN a weight to win another world title when he should've been shot. Great fighter.
