makes you wonder why cotto stepped aside
geale dropped a belt [later fought him and was never the same]
    why sturm dropped a belt
why ndam turned down the fight
why canelo waited until he had visibly slowed
why froch "swerved him like the plague."
why lou dibella said his fighter [martinez] didn't need to fight a puncher like that late in his career, and took a fight with cotto, a career WW, instead
    eubanks
    saunders

you get the idea. most avoided fighter of the last 10 years without any doubt.

golovkin was one of the 5 best fighters on the planet in his prime. sadly it looks like that prime was wasted fighting cans because the bigger names wouldn't take the fight. at least he ended up making his money one way or the other.

I'm all for exposing hypetrains but I don't think getting knocked down in sparring is a big deal. And I think sparring **** is interesting from a fan perspective but overblown in importance.

In sparring, either boxer can make a rude choice to go stronger out of curiosity... the fact is that Hendrix had ggg take a knee from a body shot...

Alvarez ain't coming in friendly, and seems to be the type to attack the body.

Didn't Floyd get ****ed up by Spence in sparring? No one talkin about that doe. Sparring is sparring, nothing more. There's a reason many will spar G, but not fight him.

Guys get dropped in sparring all the time, no big deal. When you're prepping for a fight you bring in fresh partners every few rounds who are trying to take your head off. Unless of course you are McGregor in which case you bring in fat out of shape 140 pounders and ask them to spar 12 rounds.

Good point All data is useful. I mainly meant people clowning him for it. Clowning cool if you don take it to seriously.

I'm pulling for Canelo and predicting him to win

lots of those guys would have made career high paydays. eubanks, saunders, ndam, etc. and others would have made paydays up there with anything other than major fights on ppv. sturm, cotto, canelo, froch, martinez.

it's not just a matter of golovkin handing them an L and the money not being worth it, it's the manner of the L. it takes years and fights off of your career.

golovkin is one of the most avoided fighters of the last 10 years because he's a big puncher and has a style that will deplete you. it was not just about the money in the short term, it was about money in the long term.
