Comments Thread For: Demetrius Andrade Reacts To WBC's Comments on Title Tourney

In response to the report, Demetrius Andrade stated, "There is some confusion on behalf of A-Team Promotions, with regard to the WBC's recent report about my involvement in the Super Welterweight Division Tournament. Some of that confusion arose from part of the WBC's statement, which inferred that my team changed the terms of a proposed fight agreement, so that my fight with Hatley couldn't take place. A-Team Promotions was not aware of that situation.

Did Andrade mean Culcay and not Hartley? That would make more sense.

Guys, what Andrade is saying is that he asked the WBC permission to fight Culcay but remain the WBC mandatory for the Charlo-Hatley winner. He is claiming that the WBC told him that he would remain in the #1 spot and could fight Culcay. Now the WBC is saying that Andrade removed himself from the #1 spot by agreeing to fight Culcay and effectively removing him from WBC rankings. If what Andrade is saying is true the WBC changed their mind for some reason. In fact, the Culcay fight wouldn't be happening if the WBC wouldn't have given him the ok to fight Culcay in the first place.
