I just have a feeling Kovalev will overwhelm this guy. Yes, he's been annihilating low/mid level competition. But for some reason, the tools to go in with the elites don't seem to have developed fully. We'll find out soon enough though.

WHy don't they just put him in With Stevenson in Montreal and have the winners fight for the undisputed light heavyweight title? Then they can put the two losers on the undercard to determine the number one contender after the unification match.

Your point is valid and the obvious logical thing to do. But.... Boxing for the elite fighters, mainly due to promoters, has become all about the biggest money fight with the least risk of the particular promoters' cash cow losing or looking bad. Only when the biggest money fight in the division can't be made will you see the number 1 contender get the shot, if the number 1 contender is considered dangerous.
As for Beterbiev, I think he'll get a shot at Ward or Kovalev as soon as his name gets bigger. Not because they view him as dangerous.
To me Beterbiev is all power with minimal technical boxing skills. I favor Ward over him easily. I think Kovalev beats him as well but there will be knockdowns by both fighters. He won't get a shot at Stevenson because they have the same promoter. I can't see their promoter making this fight unless their was a huge demand for it because it would be like someone cutting off their right hand in favor of the left hand. Yvon Michael is sitting on 2 of the top 4 LHW 's (not ranking but fan opinion). He's going to milk this for all he can.
