I didn't watch the Canelo/Smith fight...was Smith at least serviceable? Did he acquit himself well in defeat?

He did okay in spots, he did look like a punching bag majority of the time. Cotto would beat him.

Smith didn't deserve his alphabet belt shot, but he got it against a nobody. He didn't deserve his shot against Canelo, but he got it. Wouldn't be surprising if he got this and got KO'd again

It was the kind of performance where you appreciate the guys heart, but he showed that he's not a top level guy.

This bum doesn't deserve anymore big money fights. Only decent fighter he fought knocked his ass clean out. He needs to build up his resume before he starts calling for big money fights against cotto and other world ranked fighters cause his record is filled with nothing but nobodies. Smith is not a Lewis , Fury ,Calzaghe,Honeygan, Naz or anywhere like the very long list of great British fighters .He was out of his depth at real world level and has it all to prove before he's thrown that way again.

Cotto will be out for longer than a year, so when considering that, and the fact that he's coming off a loss, this would actually be a serviceable fight. Having said that; the reason why Cotto's return date has continued to be pushed back is due to the cost to Rocnation which creates a requirement for a "named" opponent. So I still got my fingers crossed for Cotto vs. Bradley as the first ppv of next year. Cotto takes out Smith in less than 5 if it does happen, for a vacant belt no less. Hopefully he fights Bradley for the vacant WBO belt- it is possible because Bradley is ranked #2 with the WBO at Welterweight, which means if he moves up one division, WBO will allow him to keep his ranking, shaping up a good scrap.

He was landing shots on Canelo he just lacked the weight to facilitate the type of fight he wanted to have with Canelo.
With Cotto it'd be an entirely different type of fight Cotto won't stay in the pocket Cotto actually has good feet I'm not sure how this one goes Liam Smith has the tools with the height and reach over Cotto but I don't think he knows how to use them.

he was a jokebof a fighter when he fought canelo and still is if he fights cotto,,, this is what i mean when annunknown guys fights a popular fighter he starts getting fights he really doesnt deserve, if he gets the cpotto fight,it looks the the wbo title at 154 is the way to go if u want to be champ the easiest way possible, the other champs are harder to beat
