Comments Thread For: Joshua-Klitschko: Hearn 'Crossing Fingers' To Finalize Blockbuster

PROMOTER Eddie Hearn reckons he is close to agreeing terms for Anthony Joshua to fight Wladimir Klitschko in December. Watford's IBF world heavyweight champion had been due to fight on November 26, with Kiwi fighter Joseph Parker, former world champion Bermane Stiverne and European title-holder Kubrat Pulev all possible opponents.

Wladdy could have went out on his feet. If he takes this fight he goes out on his back. Never liked him. Vitali is the real Klitschko

This fight is to big for Manchester arena and if it's finally confirmed its gonna be staged at a bigger venue.
This fight will sell 60k tickets without a doubt and sell 800k PPVs at least.
Hearn can be up his own arse sometimes but he also knows how to make money and stage the big fights.....WAR JOSHUA

I doubt this fight will happen. In my opinion Hearn is trying to keep Klitschko away from the WBO belt. Once the WBO stripes Fury from the belt and Parker- Ruiz is officialized for the vacant belt, they will announce AJ's next fight, which could be against Molina or Pulev, (could be Helenius too, but he is to fight Takam in December).

AJ could try to get the Parker-Ruiz winner next, so it would be a unification bout, and maybe be considered as his IBF mandatory. In summer it could be another big unification fight against Wilder.

Meanwhile, Klitschko will be with no belts, and will have to work his way through the rankings, with the WBA only at stake. He will have to face Browne, Ortiz or even Fury to get the full belt.

And that's where Ortiz stands. He might be able to win the belt due to his quality, and he will fight AJ (give away the belt) when Hearn decides.

In my opinion, this is Hearn's plan for AJ:

              2017: WBO against Parker-Ruiz winner

2017 or 2018: WBC against Wilder

2018 or 2019: unification fight for the 4 titles (might be against Ortiz, if he holds the WBA and is fading)

WBA belt might not be at stake, they are saying they haven't decided either way to strip Fury yet. As regards to venue, Hearn is saying could be pushed back to December so there is time potentially to get it into a bigger arena than in Manchester. I believe the fight will happen though, looking unlikely to fall through at this point.

I wonder what he's planning with the venue. I saw an interview with him the other day and he was saying Cardiff is almost definitely a no. Could he get Wembley at such short notice?
