But it is a hard deal to make. The WBA ordered the fight and gave the camps -- Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions on GGG's behalf and Jacobs' adviser Al Haymon -- until Oct. 12 to make a deal or a purse bid would be ordered.Mendoza said he offered Golovkin and Jacobs a chance to take an interim fight before meeting next year, but said that was rejected.

But the sides apparently aren't getting anywhere in the negotiations. Gilberto Mendoza Jr., president of the WBA, told ESPN.com that there has been discussion by the Jacobs side of a possible interim bout before facing Golovkin (36-0, 33 KOs), although Golovkin does not want an interim fight. He wants to do the mandatory fight with Jacobs (32-1, 29 KOs) as soon as possible, especially because it is such an attractive fight.
Also, Mendoza said that attorney Leon Margules, "on behalf of Jacobs, requested a change in the distribution percentage of the bid. The championship committee is deliberating."
Typically, a mandatory fight between a "super champion" (Golovkin in this case) and a "regular champion" (Jacobs) is a 75-25 split in the event of a purse bid with the lion's share going to the "super champion."
However, Mendoza said that Jacobs is seeking a 60-40 split (in GGG's favor).
"It has changed in some cases, but usually they are not changed," Mendoza said.

So you believe PBC hater and GGG nuthugger Fat Dan over Pugmire who wrote the original story. But it is a hard deal to make. The only thing that gives me pause is that Raphael is the person who wrote that piece. Jacobs' team aren't big fans of his so he would've gotten it from someone else or made it up. I still remember him hearing "strong chatter" about Mayweather-Cotto 2 happening (instead of Pacquiao--completely false) and his recent article on PBC was just a lot of crap--full of rumor and poorly researched. However, if what he's writing is true, Jacobs should be condemned by everybody on this board, no exceptions and no BS bias.Comment

that GGG and K2 were willing to compromise so much on the split with geale, macklin and lemieux suggests to me that they will bend to jacobs's monetary demands in the end too. it sucks for them but if your options are to fight with a less-than-fair split or to not fight at all, you gotta take the unfair split. after a pretty strong 2015, GGG seems to have lost all momentum this year. he desperately needs a competitive fight to round it off and that gives jacobs some power at the negotiating table
of course, if jacobs is truly demanding an interim fight and trying to wriggle out of the fight altogether, there's not much K2 can doComment

They needed those fights. They also didn't have the 75/25 purse bid split in their favor. They need the Jacobs fight too but that 75/25 split puts them in the position to reject damn near anything he offers. For a better idea look at the fights they negotiated where they didn't need the fight, like Monroe Jr, 94/6 split for an HBO showcase fight. They paid Wade 4x's more to avoid a purse bid. Abel's own words were that Monroe Jr is more known than Lara because he'd fought on ESPN boxino tournament. I don't agree with that bu we both know Monroe Jr was far more known than Wade. But Wade got way more money because K2 wanted to avoid a purse bid that would net Wade a much higher split.that GGG and K2 were willing to compromise so much on the split with geale, macklin and lemieux suggests to me that they will bend to jacobs's monetary demands in the end too. it sucks for them but if your options are to fight with a less-than-fair split or to not fight at all, you gotta take the unfair split. after a pretty strong 2015, GGG seems to have lost all momentum this year. he desperately needs a competitive fight to round it off and that gives jacobs some power at the negotiating table
