Interesting how there is not more talk of psychological assistance within the boxing world. Remember how Froch was seeing a sports psychologist between Groves I and II... there were a lot of people saying things like, oh this a bad sign, Froch has lost it, etc. Sports psychology is very accepted in most other sports (Andy Murray and Tiger Woods come to mind straightaway, they have both used psychologists extensively) but not so much in boxing - funny, especially when you consider that's it's mainly an "upstairs" game, particularly at the elite level.
Now, you might say that Tyson is not in need of a sports psychologist, he's in need of medical help. But if he had been working with a decent sports psychologist in the first place, these "mental health issues" would never have been overlooked in the first place. Of course, some might say that you need to be a bit tapped in the head to take up boxing anyway... And you might also claim that it's all smoke and mirrors from the Fury Camp... But whatever, just think it's interesting that boxing has seemingly yet to cotton onto the benefits of psychology. Wish Tyson all the best, was really looking forward to seeing the Klitschko rematch in person, hope we still see it next year
