Several have read the same articles and watched the same videos that you have in their entirety and come to a different conclusion.

MGM Resorts paid $15m to host Cotto-Alvarez, and literally sold maybe 2000 tickets for the fight (with the remaining 10k-11k seats staying in-house); from the interest in the fight, the gamblers that came into town, and the amount of money that ended up being lost by gamblers (at the sportsnook and on the tables), my guess is that MGM made out okay.
Brooklyn Sports&Entertainment (the entity in charge of Brooklyn Boxing and Barclays Center) has placed a pretty big bet on Daniel Jacobs, as the face of the budding "Brooklyn Boxing" brand.
Not saying that BSE is willing to lose $2m or something on the fight, but the facts seem to be that Golovkin-Jacobs will likely be a sellout at Barclays Center, "Brooklyn Boxing" merch will likely be all over the place (before, during, and after the fight), and the boxing world will likely spend 3-4 weeks focused largely on NYC, the borough of Brooklyn, and the Barclays Center.
You add the possibility that Daniel Jacobs, at his home venue, actually wins the fight, and Barclays Center is going to be willing to put up a nice check to host the event.
Golovkin doesn't have the same luxury with Madison Square Garden

I have no doubt that Golovkin, no different that Saul Alvarez, could actually get tougher opposition if he actually insisted on getting tougher opposition.

Originally posted by turnedup View PostDoubtful, remember the only experience Loeffler has is promoting the two longest reigning champions at heavy weight in recent memory. He didn't have to go seek out opposition because they were knocking his door down to get a fight. Now that he has a fighter in a climate of the Haymon super checks he's completely lost on how to play the game.
what a weak cop-out !
grow up and hold a grown man accountable for his decisions
if Golovkin did not like it, he would change it
that is a weak cop-out, they tried that one with Pac/Arum

Loeffler: no Gennady, you cannot have 10mil for fighting Canelo in a super-fight that will turn you into a star..... you will get 3mil for fighting Danny Jacobs, and you will win the WBA title
Golovkin: but Tom, I have already WBA title
Loeffler: well, yes Gennady..... but now you will have 2
Golovkin: ok Tom
