What do you think De La Hoya's ring age is

I say it's about 26-28. He hasn't taken many punches, and last Sat at 33 you saw he was still somewhat quick. I think he should continue fighting until he sees an obvious decline in his ability. I think he'd still hold his own against the best in the world.

I want to see him avenge those 2 L's from Sugar Shane

That doesn't change the fact he's moved up and down in weight several times, and totally destroyed his body dude.

Alot of people don't understand how that works, but I'm not implying that you don't, just in general.

I'd say his ring age is around 37-39....because he's not going to fight more than 3 more fights the rest of his career.

dumbest thread right now. De La Hoya age 26-28 'ring age'? You're telling me that De la Hoya has the same stamina and body freshness as guys like Mayweather, Pacquiao, Hatton, Judah etc? Hmmm, OK.

Hatton has had a run of working guys over. Sure he's been hit, and sure he's moved up and down in weight.

But he's never been through near the amount of punishment Oscar has either. Oscar has been in some ring wars and absorbed a tremendous amount of punishment from tough guys.

I'd also have to disagree with that aspect as well.

Vargas beat the daylights out of him...untill he turned it around. Ike Quartey put a viscious beating on him...even though I thought Oscar won the fight. Hopkins really did a number on his body, Shane really beat the daylights out of him in the first fight...and so forth.

I'd say the culmination of punches taken and his body shedding and adding weight leaves him at around 37-39 in ring age.

Manny...First of all, just be honest and say that the only reason you posted in this thread to begin with was because after I put in my two cents in the 'little people in trees' thread, where everyone was ripping on you. I actually defended you, but then in another thread we disagreed about something very minor and you gave me bad karma for that. This was after defending you in the thread everyone was hatin' on you in. I remember Goldenboyprm hit me with bad karma for defending you. I didn't care though, because I thought it was sad how everyone was ripping on the short guy who boasted about having street cred, and this is what I get. I was like the only person who said anything to those guys in terms of stfu stop picking on this guy and this is how you repay me. To close, I have a request. Go get your shinebox you little monkey and shine up my shoes, I'll have a word with my friends about how well you work and then maybe after that your street cred will be on the rise.

It isn't hard to judge what a guy's age is based on how much punishment they've taken combined with their age, when Mayweather is 32-33 he'll have a younger ring age too because he's a more defensive fighter...40 year old Bernard Hopkins has a ring age of about 30. Paciauo tends to take more punishment so when he's Oscar's age his ring age will be around the same if not older. same thing with Judah and Hatton

wow, tryin to be slick with that comment eh?

De la Hoya fought 6 Rounds. Like I said, you can't use this to determine his 'ring age'. Anybody can fight well in 6 Rounds. Take Morales for example who fought well for the 1st half of the fight against Pac on their 2nd fight, but got destroyed after that. Too much punsihment prior.
