I do respect Ricky Burns more than Hagler or Monzon.

Monzon never moved up, his 2 best wins were welters, he killed his wife and he had 7 draws in Argentina, he actually lost these fights and got robbery draws.

If you look at Hagler's resume 5 of his 6 best opponents were smaller men, Hagler never moved up and he openly ducked Body Snatcher to the point that Body Snatcher recently confronted him about it.

Burns on the other hand is 33 and a 3 division champ. Fought Crawford, Dejan and Omar. All undefeated champs.

I think people give Hagler credit for what other 3 did.

Yeah, hard to respect a guy who loses to man 2 divisions smaller.

And he lost to some fighters that were contenders at best. I know he was still on his way up too.

Let's be fair, apart from fighting those guys who had started 2 or more divisions below him, his MW reign in terms of fighting actual MW's wasn't exactly murderers row.

It really wasn't. Body Snatcher had better wins easy.

Body Snatcher wasn't even ranked at middleweight while Hagler was champ...

Also, he didn't have his first serious fight at middleweight until 1988. 1 year after Hagler retired.

                Edit: 1 year

5 of Hagler's opponents moved up. I've met Seales a welter who moved up tp fight him.

Hagler was 14 fights green when he fought Seales. Seales did not move up just for Hagler. Also he did nothing of note at welterweight whatsoever in the extremely short part of his career he was there hence why he is considered a middleweight and not a welterweight.

Hagler had 67 fights so 5 guys who moved up is downright insignificant.
