Comments Thread For: A Sobering Update - For Those Who Died 2016

By Thomas Gerbasi - Last Friday night, Scotland's Mike Towell succumbed to injuries suffered in his September 29 bout against Dale Evans. Owner of a 13-0-1 record leading up to the fight, the 25-year-old is the latest casualty in a sport that has suffered too many of them.

Excellent article. Sums up the love/hate I have with boxing and other combat sports. I remember "fans" calling for Israel Vazquez' hide for "quitting" against Marquez with a shattered nose..... You don't put your whole career/life on the line for one fight when your bread and butter comes from being healthy enough to compete. Lots of good fighters have been ruined by their and their corner's bravery, and by commissions who only care about putting a live body in a ring.

RIP to all the fallen warriors, and peace to the guys who were on the other end.

Salute to the fallen warriors and respect to the families that have lost.

The Boxing community doesn't forget and as a small consolation, in this way they will live forever.

          Peace.
