That's a good question. Another reason why I think that in the next couple of years that PBF is gonna be to this era what Ali and SRL ,SRR were to there's. This doesn't mean everybody likes him it just means that people can be drawn in either to root for or against. Kinda how Ali was he also has the record, talent, charisma to do it, especially with the recent maturation that I've seen from him. I know other's will emerge but he's the only one that I know can do it. A lot of promoters gear they're marketing to the latin communitty so that tells me that Margorito or some other latino will be pushed to become great.

I see where you're coming from, there are just no crossover stars left in boxing now that Trinidad, DLH and Tyson (and God willing Holyfield) will all be gone for good by year's end.

The future is great for hardcore fans, but not so great for mainstream fairweather fans of the sport.

Let's look at some divisions and see what we will have for the next few years--guys who can potentially SELL: (post 2006)

HEAVY: Wlad Klitschko, Sam Peter, Hasim Rahman (Toney GONE)
CRUISERWEIGHT: Bell (though this division itself will never sell)
LIGHT HEAVY: Chad Dawson (Tarver, Johnson, Jones GONE)
SUPER MIDDLE: Lacy (if he can come back), Kessler, A.Dirrell (Calzaghe GONE)
MIDDLE: Taylor, Abraham, Miranda, Pavlik, Ward (if his chin doesn't get checked for a while) (Hopkins GONE)
LIGHT MIDDLE: Ouma, Karmazin, Vanes Martirosyan (DLH, Vargas, Mosley GONE)
WELTER: PBF, Margarito, Hatton, Cotto, Berto, Julio, JCC Jr.
LIGHT WELTER: A.Peterson, Urango, Malignaggi, Paez Jr.
LIGHT: Juan Diaz, Amir Khan, Guzman, Valero (will he ever fight in US again?), Escobedo (can he rebound?)
SUPER FEATHER: Pacquaio (Morales, Barrera GONE)
      FEATHER: Soto, Litzau

Thoughts? I'm sure I omitted a couple inadvertently...

Boxing isnt boring. not to the true fans, for the casual fans their may be a lack of recognizeable fighters.
