    SHOWTIME-Saturday Night

With the PPV on this weekend...most didnt see Jose Rivera become a Champion this weekend. I was watching the fight because Dave Tenny is Rivera's cutman and I wanted to tape it for training purposes. Did any of you see this fight and what did you think of Rivera's performance. I consider myself a pretty big boxing fan...but I dont recall ever seeing a man go down from a JAB. Rivera knocked Garcia down in the first round with the JAB...Rivera knocked him down 5 or 6 times in the fight to include a knockdown in the 12th round with only 10 seconds left in the fight.

I was watching it live at the DCU center. And I gotta say that I was very impressed with Jose.It was probadly one of his finest performances.I think he knew how important this fight was,and pulled out all stops.I just hope that he finally gets some respect now from Ring magazine. He is a 154 pound champion now.He
deserves to be at least in the top ten.Which Ring couldn't bring themselves to do when he was a welterweight champion.

i saw the replay and it was a great fight, rivera looked real strong. in his last fight luis collazo beat him to take the wba belt at 147lb. this makes collazo look good, rivera was doing some good body work.
i wonder who'll rivera will fight next?

Thanks Coag!It was a good card. And no I didn't see that jab land.It was so quick and unexpected.I wasn't sure if it was a slip or not.I originally had good seats. But my back and ass started killing me after sitting their for about six hours. So I moved up a little where I could stand.Overall a good night, but way too many delays and intermissions.

Rivera did a good job but I was sad that when his corner told him to just take it easy the 12th round so he went out there and tried to know Garcia out 3-4 times... Just wish he would have played that smart... Shows me Rivera could still act dangerously in a fight.

I thought Rivera went out fighting...**** ...he knocked him down with 10 seconds left in the fight and had him hurt throughout the 12th....I give Rivera a B...if he is going to take on any other champions in the weight class he needs to bring his A game

last time I saw a guy get KD by a jab, i believe it was Foreman knocking down Cooney with a jab in a corner
