Of course numbers lie.
How many times have we seen boxers from other countries come to the US with great records and get exposed. Just recently Alexander Brand was 25-1 when he fought Ward and Liam Smith was 23-0-1 when he fought Alvarez. I think both guys showed that numbers do lie because despite their records both guys were hardly top 10 fighters.
As for CompuBox it scores jabs and non jabs. Every punch that's not a jab is considered a power punch. No distinction is made between a hard punch and a punch that barely lands.

Firstly, "numbers don't like" is an adage, i.e. a general statement, not an absolute one. There are times when the raw data and statistics don't tell the whole story.

Secondly, the last paragraph even admits this.

Thirdly, someone playing it as safe as possible and potshotting their way to a boring decision is not the most impressive display of boxing skills to me.

Fourthly, if you're gonna quote my post and try to refute it, then at least do it in context.

Your post questioned whether Mayweather was a "true defensive genius." It also questioned whether he was "TBE." Well this article clearly illustrates that he was indeed a defensive genius! The last paragraph does tell us that the fact he was a defensive genius does not make him "TBE." I don't believe Floyd was "TBE," but to question whether he's a defensive genius, is proof that you're an idiot! Floyd Mayweather has been the best defensive fighter since the invention of the television!

Everyone knows vargas is a keep busy fight. The main course is his final bout after the Vargas fight.
