Why is Overhand Right so Deadly in HW

So many KOs from that punch even on good fighters.

Big men are devastating with everything but you'll see the straight thrown a lot because it's quick, powerful, and doesn't require a lot of exertion. The upper-cut is another that's deadly for heavies but the straight right is always there in one way for another and you can easily transition from it, or transition to it.

Their size and strength can deliver the needed force to cause a KO more easily.

Maybe cuse HWs throw a slow jabs and dont move a lot and overhand is perfect counter for sloppy jab ,i should think about it before posting, for example i dont see anyone landing Stright right on Ali or Fury cuse they move a lot and most hWs are super flatfooted, uppercut is also hard to land on movers like that ,but right straight is most deadly punch in HW IMO,for example LL was open on stright but uppercut was not big weapon against him,Gigants usually dont have problems with uppercut.

          1) Because they are huge men and as such very powerful, but the skull and brain inside are the same as everyone else so if a heavy gets caught by another heavy usually bad things happen.

          2) Range, that punch can be thrown from range and most heavies are not sitting around on the inside they are hanging out at range which leaves them vulnerable to a long range shot especially if there is an errant

          3) Jab! The jab is key in all weight classes but at heavy the jab is used to maintain distance so a guy can come over the top if someone is sloppy or lazy with their jab, also used in combination with a good jab to blind the other guy with the overhand right coming behind to clean up.

          4) Heavies are generally less skilled so something that doesn't fly in another class sometimes pays off big. Plus there are huge size differences more so than other classes.

Most natural and easiest punch the body can throw....no complicated movement and if you step into and follow through with your weight then its highly likely someone is going down....

Most fighters are right handers .....therefor you see more right hand k.os as you would if there were more left handers or k.o left hookers tht soley use the particular punch.Theres no easier punch to throw ,it depends on the fighter and what they usually rely on.

I think it is a devastating punch at all levels but it is one of my favourites

At heavyweight I suppose they have tight guards and the overhand can catch them by surprise.... It also carries a lot of weight from the back muscles and generally catches right on the chin

It takes a lot of skill to throw this punch and even more to use it at the right times... You leave yourself open if you don't land it right...
