Comments Thread For: Parker's Promoter Confident They Hold First Rights To WBO Title

Joseph Parker's handlers are adamant they have the first rights to the WBO title fight if the belt is stripped off troubled champion Tyson Fury. Duco Events are eager to chase the WBO belt, saying they have a deal "95 percent done" to bring Mexican Andy Ruiz to New Zealand for a December 10 fight.

Unfortunately, it seems like that clause giving the Championship Committee the ability to decide the two best candidates, is in there purely to give discretion in any situation.

As it stands, Klitchko is ranked below Parker. Joshua isn't even ranked by the WBO at all. But money talks...

I'd rather see Joshua/Wlad for all but the WBO belt, and let Parker/Ruiz fight for that one. Then have the winner fight the Joshua/Wlad winner. That scenario would create more interest and ticket sales for the sport. But hey, I don't have enough money to promote shiiii... so...

No way does the WBO sanction Wlad vs AJ for the title if Fury gets stripped.

Also no way Wlad chooses Joshua for the IBF title shot, when he can fight Parker for the WBO title.

Klitschko v joshua is clearly a better option than parker v ruiz despite the rankings

Klitschko was their champion for 10 years and only lost to a cheat, and Joshua is not ranked because he's IBF champion

Actually Wlad did better in sparring with Joshua then he did with Parker. Ask anyone that was at both camps. Parker is high risk/low reward whereas Wlad can go to England for a massive payday and fight a guy he feels more confident of beating, plus it holds more prestige for him than a win over Parker.

Also makes sense for Parker AND Joshua if Parker can win a strap, which will then build up a fight between the two even that much more and mean more money for both guys when they do face off.

To me it makes more sense for everyone Wlad, Parker, Joshua if it goes down this way.

Ask Jonathan Banks. One guy troubled Wlad with his speed and even opened up little nicks under both of Wlad's eyes and got benched for his troubles, whereas the other guy was somewhat more passive when he sparred Wlad.

You could argue that, it's all preference though. I would prefer to see Parker/Ruiz and Klitchko/Joshua for the respective belts, then have a unification fight with the winners.

It's likely that boxing Orgs will bow to the money and the masses, which undermines the whole point of the rankings.

No one can argue that #2 and Unranked, is a more logical or fair option than #1 and #3. It's when you throw in the popularity of #2/Unranked that people change their opinion.
