Canelo and BJS are much younger than GGG. They're probably waiting for age to slow him down a bit before taking the fight. Not unlike what Mayweather did with Pac.

Totally predictable - look at Akavov's record, he hasn't fought anyone even close to top level. Saunders is just taking a banker to ensure he can move on to a bigger money fight - he should get stripped of his belt, a 'world champion' takes on the best, not fringe contenders.

that's the point..... if he doesn't take those fights, he won't get any shine

Saunders put himself in a corner by not defending his title for such a long period of time when he had lots of opportunities to do so before now. Not wanting to risk getting stripped and blow a multi million dollar pay day against a top name, he chose the weakest fighter out of those available.

As far as your point about him not fighting a welterweight, I'm sure that if he were able to do such a fight and keep his belt he would have done so. The fact is that the other middleweight champion (Golovkin) has been defending his belts every 4-6 months against his mandatories which freed up space for him to take a money fight against a welterweight, meanwhile Saunders has been refusing fights and sitting idly.

He is simply trying to cash out his belt against either Canelo or Golovkin but in the meantime has done nothing to show that he is an ambitious fighter looking to prove that he is the real number 1 middleweight. If he was more honest about his situation and willingness to fight the big names he'd surely have more support.

          you just described Golovkin

my point was more about double-standards...... like calling out 1 guy for avoiding difficult fights, but then making excuses for another guy when he does the same thing..... like you just did

When Saunders fights Canelo, I bet he doesn't make the 10mil that Golovkin just turned down.

And if/when Golovkin actually wants to fight Saunders, I bet he offers him more than 1.5mil LMAO

so, Saunders turns down 1.5mil, and he's ducking

You didn't really respond to any of the points I made in my last post.

However, if a fighter defends their titles they are able to make voluntary defenses until the next mandatory is due. Not that I agree that fighting a welterweight was a good look at all but I'm sure you recall that the fight was meant to be with Eubank who errr.... lost his pen or something, so then Golovkin's choices were either fight and make 5 mil or sit idle. I'd rather a fighter fight than sit idle like Billy Joe has done. He should show respect to the sport, the belt and his fans by giving them a show and defending his belt as champions do.

******ly lame "defense," but also an example of why it's silly in today's boxing world to talk of alphabet belt-holders "setting records" for "title defenses" when so many of them are runny, smelly **** like this.

Well it wouldn't be as much of a disgrace if the sanctioning bodies enforced mandatories. BJS has had his belt for almost a year and Khurtsidze is #1 in the WBO which would be a great fight. I don't care if BJS hasn't fought in all that time if he wanted a voluntary he should have taken one. It's been more than 9 months so he should be forced to fight the #1 contender or be stripped. Unfortunately Frank Warren has exceptional skills at performing oral sex so his princesses are exempt.
