roach is full of it though. talking about giving pac more days off. if thats what they did in the cotto fight and it was a success, then why stopped doing it? you can never take anything from roach serious anymore. the dude was a better trainer when manny was still coming up and roach didnt talk much. after pac started getting popular, roach's ego blew up. if you watch manny's old fights when he was still on the come up, roach didnt talk as much.

nah, roach has mention this before in the past. one week its manny looks amazing in sparring, the next week, pac is making a lot of mistakes. i guaranteed next week, roach is gonna put out the same statement that manny looks great and that he has made a bet with pac's sparring partners to see if anyone can dropped manny and will get $1000 for it.Comment

to sell a mismatch. they've done it in the past. trainers these days, especially for the very top flight fighters who are essentially paid by the ppv buys, have to function in part as promotors. freddie has been doing this for a while. they used to sell "distractions" on 24/7, if you recall. this is no different. it's just a storyline to sell a fight. if roach was genuinely concerned about pacquiao he would hush up about it. he's not going to put his prized pupil and life's work under the wheel of a bus.
if they were trying to sell a mistmatch by saying manny is looking bad, then they wouldnt be downplaying vargas in the next interview.
they've been downplaying vargas from the beginning saying he's not on pac's level, etc. so im not sure why this means their trying to sell a mismatch?Comment

Man you are reaching, rios was never knocked out by alvarado, pacquiao was coming off a vicious ko loss to marquez and a year lay off to recover. So how is pac cherry picking wouldnt it be the younger fresher rios?Comment

but look at it like this. people is gonna be paying more to see pac not vargas. so if pac is looking bad, why would they waste their money?

you seem to think that people nbeed consistency to sell boxing matches. you don't need a soul to sell a boxing match. you're actually better off without one.
they're basically functioning as salespeople. they can tell one reporter that pacquiao is distracted, looks bad, etc, to sell a mismatch, and to another reporter they'll say pacquiao is in the best shape of his life. it all depends on the questions being asked. you take the temperature of the room, and respond accordingly. calling it a mismatch? manny looks old. calling manny old? manny's in the best shape of his life.Comment

10% of a few million bucks would keep almost anybody in the game, and a star like manny is going to need to really stick around well after his expiration date to no longer be economically viable.Comment
