Golovkin should say to golden boy " I'll take the 10m flat fee if the fight happens in May, if it happens in September it's a percentage"
I want this fight to happen alreadyComment

Cotto was older and small, no KO power in him we were watching for the respect for him.I really don't see this fight getting 1M.
Cotto V Canelo didn't get to 1M. Floyd and Manny could no longer get to 1M individually.
Casuals take fights to that 1M range, and neither of the guys are big enough stars to make casuals spend that PPV money when they otherwise would not.
GGG and Canelo are bulls going to war, it's different.
If this is made for May then the casuals would pay to see it and it could do 1.5 million buysComment

It might be true, but also it is arguable that Cotto is still a bigger name than GGG, plus the rivalry between Mexico and Puerto Rico, and the fight didn't even break I million.Comment

The standard breakdown as far as money is concerned is a 10% fee off the top for the distributor, with 45% each for the cable system and the promoter.
So according to the poll, the fight will do around 1M, with a price tag of $70 a pop, the revenue will bring $70M. 45% from that goes to the promoter which is around $31.5M.
There are other revenue like international rights, live gates, merchandise and casino site fee.
To counter that there are also expenses like undercard fighters fee, promotional fee and promoter's cut.Comment

With the pot of $31.5M, a $10m offer to GGG seems to be in line with the reasonable 70-30 split. Unless the live gate and international rights bring in huge $$, golovkin purse will not go much higher than the proposed figure.Comment

You guys underestimate the power of promotion/hype/fight week excitement. I think This fight will do at least 1.5m but 2m wouldn't surprise me

Cotto is more well known than GGG, not to mention that he bought the Puerto Rico/Mexico rivalry to the table. They still could not get to a million.
In fact, in the last 3 years only 1 fight has garnered a million PPV and that was the big one that everyone was waiting for.
I see no reason to believe that these two guys will intrigue casuals who barely know them to pay upwards of $70 for a PPV.
That says less about the fighters than it does about the PPV model.Comment
