Comments Thread For: Ward: I've Got Plenty of Time To See What I Need Of Kovalev

Andre Ward (30-0, 15KOs) has been aware of Sergey Kovalev (30-0, 26KOs), but he hadn't watched much of him. That was mutual; Kovalev hadn't seen much of Ward either back when Ward was competing at 168 and Kovalev at 175. They're both light heavyweights now and due to meet on Nov. 19.

Lots of fighters trying to help Andre Ward win. I certainly hope that's not a racial thing, but I'm reminded of when BHop and RJJ were asked to talk about things Kovalev could exploit in Ward's game, since they are analysts and that's their job to give the boxing fans that insight, but both declined to say anything about Ward's weaknesses because I think RJJ even said "that's my brother" or something to that effect.

So to these analysts, it's almost like race comes ahead of their responsibilities to boxing fans and to their job. Now apparently a lot of people want to pitch in with a team effort to help Ward. Why don't they want to pitch in with Kovalev to help beat Ward?

I just see a double standard there. Don't get me wrong, I don't want that for Kovalev either. I just want fairness, no double standards. It should be Ward, his trainer, and his sparring partners and gym, vs Kovalev, his trainer, his sparring partners, and gym. No spies. No tag-teams. No cheating. No paid off ref. Let's have a fair, clean fight between two top fighters.

Kovy an open and admitted racist who taunts some of his opponents after KO'ing them.

Not hard to see why some don't support him

You are incredibly fcuking ******ed and sentimental too.

First off, Stevenson does look like a chimp. You paranoid emotional f@ggot. Second, Kovalev's trainer is John David Jackson. JDJ is NOT the type to allow racism, especially from one of his fighters you moronic twat.

Third, Kovalev is good friends with Bhop. He respected him in and out of the fight.

He admitted it when, exactly? He's said some stuff he shouldn't have when he's been pissed off but I'd say there's a distinction between being a racist and doing something racist. Or maybe not. Who am I to judge?

The taunting thing? Well Sillakh taunted him before the fight - said he'd 'finish' him as a boxer - guess Sergei wanted to let his fists do the talking first. Think Sergei kinda takes that ish to heart.

Last week, lots of posters were giving Kovalev hell, some going as far as accusing Sergey of lying, for saying the exact same thing about Andre Ward is saying right here.

So the thread starts off with a professional race fire starter in Boxing Logic and an emotionally charged attack by an obvious Kovalev fan. Awesome!

But you ignore the vagina who calls Kovalev a racist without evidence?

                Nice

Race is a part of the sport and a big reason fans choose to like certain boxers..I feel all paid boxing analyst should be unbiased in their reporting but don't make a mountain out of a hill just because a Black American analyst hopes a Black American fighter doesn't get decapitated by the new day Ivan Drago.

                    Dre sounds very confident here.

Going off my eye test of seeing him since he's been back, I just don't see how he does it.

Kov has stopped guys with a jab to the body

                    Hopefully I'm wrong.

Ward has always been taught to go to the power. I'm just not sure that works here.
