Comments Thread For: Andre Ward: I've Always Felt Like The Underdog

Bottom line: speed beats power.
For that matter he has *NEVER*been an underdog. I ask if anyone has watched him fight in person?, being a Bay Area native, I have. The appreciation of what he does is the double edge sword of boxing, you can clearly see his superiority in speed, defensive skills, and ring generalship, but you are clearly aware of his lack of knockout power and killer instinct. (Traits that endear boxers in their fans eyes) let's face it everyone likes a knockout.
I can't deny that defensive champions are extremely boring, but the art of boxing is about hitting and not getting hit, and he's does that better than most, for that he has never been the underdog.
That said, I've always been underwhelmed by watching his fights.Comment

oh come on man, worst thing is you know your boxing your just incredibly bias. That division was wank, how do you think them guys would have done against someone like kovalev? WOuld have blitzed all of them
Abraham- very very limited fighter, please dont tell me you rate him
Andre dirrell- good fighter but not really a world beater as degale showed
carl froch- warrior but with big limitations, easily outboxed, mocked by americans as a limited caveman until ward beat him by 1 round, then that became the best victory in the history of boxing
Bute- crap really isnt he, knocked out with a headguard on by GGG. pascal and degale showed hes not much good
Taylor- prime years way past him
Johnson- 100 year old guy with many losses. fact he could still compete with some of them fighters shows how poor division was
Kessler- Yeah good solid fighter, was he that great, not really. ******* joe beat him fairly handily
Alan green- useless, what more can be said
super 6 was just a bunch of b level and c level fighters lumped in with each other. Thought dirrell beat froch so i'd have said someone like dirrell would have won it if ward wasnt there so its not that much of an achievement beating that line up of fighters
majority of those guys you crapped were former world champions and a few are still world class today, so you must think the divisions really suck today
its ok bro, whatever makes you sleep better at nightComment

He definitely has a victim's mentality. Like Floyd he lies to himself that people don't like him because he's black. No man being black is legit, it's fly. Black people are just as cool as white people while also being way better dancers. You can't hate on the black, for that would be wack. Words to live by.
But he doesn't get that. He thinks it's cuz he's black. No, it's because he's boring and he holds and instead of giving the fans the fights they wanted the last five years, he kept suing his promoter even though he promoter did nothing wrong. It was a wrongful lawsuit and the judges kept telling him that, but he wouldn't listen he just kept making up reasons to sue. So he engaged in shady business, didn't fight the fights fans wanted, and when he did fight, he held and fouled a lot as usual, and didn't use an entertaining style.
I mean is all that not a good enough reason not to prefer a fighter over other ones? That's not enough? You have to be a racist too? Come on that's just a victim's mentality. You can't hate the black, man. You just can't. As I said, that **** would be wack as ****. It's just about entertainment. Ward has not delivered entertainment for the fans and so the fans prefer other fighters instead. Just like I would rather watch the greatest show on turf Rams than watch the Cleveland Browns. It's about better entertainment. It's not because I hate the color brown. See? You can't hate the brown, man. That would cause a big frown. You can't do it. Just can't.Comment
