  • Comments Thread For: Teddy Atlas Wonders if Brook Had Injury PRIOR To Golovkin Bout

Teddy Atlas, veteran trainer and expert analyst for ESPN, is wondering if IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (36-1, 25KOs) had a pre-existing eye injury when stepped in the ring with IBF/WBA/IBO/WBC middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (36-0, 33KOs).

Yes Teddy ,Brook entered the biggest fight in his life with a serious eye injury that caused him visual problems and couldve blinded him.It was only against one of boxings most dangerous punchers from two weights up so he didn't think it would matter..He most likely picked up the injury sparring in a headguard against Liam Smith. He didn't start pawing at his eye in round two because in round one he forgot he had the injury in all the excitement of getting hurt by big punches.Of course Brook wouldn't have pulled out of the fight like he has so many times before because he's always got the other eye to get through life with.Teddy needs to be sectioned.

How do you know that your fighter has a broken orbital bone until you get to an x-ray machine?
Well, Teddy, I've broken fingers, my thumb, and a tarsal bone, and ALWAYS knew they were broken before getting the x-ray. Maybe, just maybe, they could feel it in his face. Maybe the fact that he could see 4 Golovkins led them to this conclusion. Maybe the fact that he was touching and holding his eye for 3 rounds helped them arrive at this conclusion. As far as the bookie and the line, maybe people knew Golovkin was going to kick his ass...

Dam i understand people are GGG fans but y'all get pissed at everyone and everything someone says when y'all feel it even discredits him slightly. Man up, the guy is not perfect, I bet half of y'all don't even defend your family this damn much.

Teddy has a reasonable belief, but rather than even considering the possibility of what he is saying y'all start posting negativity about the guy. Funny thing is he isn't even criticizing GGG, just an opponent of his.

Dam it's crazy y'all don't realize the guy isn't PERFECT. Hell he's a good fighter, the best at 160, everyone knows this. Now it's time for GGG to know he isn't flawless.

The injury he had, there's no way of hiding it. It was only visible from the moment he signalled he had injured his eye. It happened during the fight. It's not like hiding a hand injury or something.
