Everybody seems to think that the Golden Boy vs. the Pretty Boy would be the biggest fight of the year. Perhaps it would be if you like to watch a chess match. Both De La Hoya and Mayweather are excellent technical boxers, but the style match would not produce the kind of action the fans would like. As a matter of fact it would likely be much more dull and boring than Mayweather's fight with Judah, as De La Hoya is a better tactician than Judah and Mayweather is never very exciting at the best of times.
If Oscar de la Hoya makes Hatton an offer, Hatton should accept. It is not certain that Hatton could win, but he is in his prime and he does not have as many techical flaws as Ricardo Mayorga. It is a good style match, the boxer vs. the slugger, and will be a fan friendly fight. It is also certain to be a big draw.
