Comments Thread For: Tommy Morrison's Son: I Opened Some Eyes, Roach Improved Me

Oklahoma - In a performance that lit up the arena, Trey Lippe Morrison dropped Ed Latimore two times and was on the verge of knocking him down again when the referee stepped in and halted matters at 2:19. Morrison decked Latimore the first time with a right hand midway through the first. Moments later, Latimore went down again from two rights and a left hook. After a series of shots, the referee stopped it.

There's no doubt Trey has got his dads natural power. He's about the same size and seems to have a better chin. I think he can go far in the sport and maybe even challenge for a title one day. But, and there is a but.......usually guys with no amateur experience can't obtain and keep a title for any length of time. Not only that, he's kind of old getting into the game. I'm excited and we will see.

To be fair Tommy didnt have a terrible chin. Ray was the only guy who really KOed him and that took like 20 unanswered punches, lol. He would go down from time to time but I think it had more to do with his style and a less than stellar defense than being "chinny". As far as Treys chin goes he hasnt really fought anyone that has tested that yet. Time will tell.

Trey Morrison looked decent in his performance against Latimore. He has some glaring flaws but the kid is very new to the sport with only 11 pro fights and no amateur ones. He'll be definitely a fun prospect to watch out for

It's very unusual that Trey already one-rounded a fighter of that level.

If he continues to learn from Roach and improve at this rate, he's a prodigy.

Roach is a hall of fame trainer. If a fighter has discipline he will usually improve under Roach. I also think fighters with natural defense do well under Roach.

roach is a gifted offensively minded trainer.
