Alvarez vs Smith takes 18 million views in Mexico

Canal Space, which is like an HBO brand but in Mexico via cable subscription did about 3.4 million live viewers.

The replay on national television an hour later did 18 million. I thought Mexicans didn't like Alvarez?

Canal Space is owned by Time Warner, HBO's daddy.

Canelo has tons of fans. It's just the critics that are the loudest.

Was in a sports bar in Cabo on vacay and the place was very packed and wild. Free tequila shots and $2 beers all fight! Good times!!!

Canelo has alot of fans in Mexico regardless of what NSB wants to think

The main reason Canelo is so popular is because he is a very exciting fighter who almost never fails to put on a great show. He comes to fight and attack. He has great skill and power. He is almost never in a dull fight or a poor fight. The Mexicans love the way he fights and so do boxing fans around the world.

                  No surprise.

He's the biggest star in boxing by a wide margin.
