Gvozdzyk vs Chilemba is a sleeper

This is Gvozdyk's time to shine, however the Kovalev fight shows Chilemba is no push over. If he manages to KO Isaac or pummel him while looking less awkward as Kov did, then we have a new legitimate dog in the division.
If that's the case heads up Kov/Ward!! Forget about Golovkin we have a bigger fighter on our hands. But this is all speculation and we shall see come fight night, I have faith he'll pass the test with flying colours, the predominant fighters school of eastern bloc are well schooled and are very seasoned so he should do fine.

Boxing IS a young man's sport....fighting something like Mohameddi doesn't change that.
Those Oxnard fighters are soft as marshmallows.

My post was NOT a knock on Gvozdyk, I've followed him since the amateurs and always thought he had the goods. It's a knock on Arum, Top Rank. Even the biggest TR supporters on here know that they've been terrible about showcasing their young talent, are you seriously dis*****g that?
Gvozdyk, Kavaliauskas, Mekhontsev, etc, have been ready to step up long ago..... Fighting no name guys with 30 losses in Phoenix 2x a year on untelevised club events, is not going to get you anywhere. They've been doing that for far too long. The progression has been too slow, IMO. But it's not about the progression, what I mainly was saying was that Top Rank does not showcase their young talent on the same level as Golden Boy, and PBC for example.
Name some Haymon/PBC fighters who get showcased? Ummmmm. Okay. How about you look at basically every fighter on ShoBox for the last 12 months? Start with that. Then look at the young fighters who have fought on regular PBC (Gassiev, Browne, etc, etc etc) i mean I cannot even come up with a list of fighters because basically EVERY PBC fight for the last 12 months, at least a damn good percentage, has been either young talents against other young guys, or young talents in showcase fights against no-hope opponents. Obviously on the flip-side, there's been a lot of that but not enough "top established fighter vs. top established fighter" matchups, but that's not what we're discussing here.
Take a look at the boxing events from ShoBox and PBC for the last 12 months and you'll get a list of over at least 100 "prospects" who fought on live TV, and 75% of them have less talent then the talented ones Top Rank has had that do not get the proper showcase. That's a problem. A big one, for Top Rank.
I seriously hope you were joking, because if you're satisfied with what Top Rank has done: (put these type of fighters on the first fight in an untelevised Toprank.tv fight (a program which literally no more then 500 people stream at once probably) in a PPV event in ****in Macao, China.) Then, I mean, there's nothing really to say. I bet if you ask 100 people on this forum who has done the worst recently with young prospects, 95 of them would say Top Rank.
It's not a matter of opinion, it's a definite fact that in the last 12 months, young prospects from all promoters got showcased 1000% more on the various PBC channels, and ShoBox, then what Top Rank has done with theirs for the last 5 years or so.
Come on dude, wake up. Top Rank is **** at showcasing their prospects. Wtf could your argument even be?Last edited by King_; 09-23-2016, 12:38 PM.
