      So Canelo/Smith failed to break 300k, GGG/Brook did 500k

Latest reports indicate that Canelo/Brook flopped considering he's the new Floyd.

While GGG v Brook did 500k in U.K., although it's not the same. It also dud millions more around the world.

It's obvious the trajectory of these two fighters is differing with Canelo going backwards and GGG steadily going foward.

I bet Canelo fans will love the Floyd killed the ppv model excuse. But in reality Canelo has harmed himself, and that is just fact now.

Billy Joe is perfect. Showcase opponent, grab a middleweight title, the fight would generate good box office in the UK, keep it on regular HBO in the US. This creates even more leverage for Canelo. They might be better off walking away from talks with GGG, they should make this fight, get 60,000 people into cowboys stadium, then demand 70% next summer.

With the injury it was highly unlikely that Alvarez would return to the ring before next May.

GBP needs to match him better for his first fight in 2017:

                    1) A scrub opponent (like Liam Smith) to fleece the public will receive the same tepid response in regards to PPV buys; and that would weaken their leverage against K2 for the September revenue split because Golovkin will stay busy during the interim to garner more popularity.

                    2) Canelo is a 2-fight/year diva; better choose a decent opponent to help prep for September, AKA crunch time against Golovkin.

All said, based on what happens next May, I could see the September 2017 event being postponed until the following May. This would suck but it seems to be GBP's MO at the moment.
