The point is that if they fight, and the fight does 1M buys (which is what many people expect) then they'd be getting robbed blind. Because whether you like it or not, Golovkin will contribute to selling those PPVs. It's about the matchup. Canelo deserves a higher split, but Golovkin definitely deserves his share too.

If they sell the fight for $65 and it does 1M buys that's $65M. He'd be leaving a huge portion of that on the table by accepting a flat fee we're taking like $8-10M .

The provider and HBO take half of that, then there's the undercard etc. There'd be about 25-30 mil left for the fighters.

Does that negate canelo being a draw? No.

Is canelo a slightly bigger draw? Probably due to the Hispanic roots in boxing.
