Comments Thread For: CompuBox Breaks Down The Suddenly Red-Hot 115-lb Division

Most casual sports fans know about the heavyweights, middleweights and welterweights but for those with a deeper appreciation for boxing the 115-pounders -- also known as super flyweights -- may well be the best weight class in boxing. As of now, only one past champion is enshrined in the International Boxing Hall of Fame (Khaosai Galaxy) and another may soon join him (Johnny Tapia) but one look at the rankings suggests that more may be coming down the pike during the next decade or so.

Yep, 115 is amazing division. Good numbers. Gonzalez, as expected, is the high volume puncher.

High volume power punchers in the lower classes tend to get old in the early 30s, so he needs to get the marquee fights sooner rather than later.

So true. When he finally goes, it's gonna be like when Roy Jones got put down by Tarver. And that time is only about three years away.

it isn't a red hot division, its a midget division. sorry no disrespect to the fighters, obviously skillful but its a freak show divison, Gonzalez is 5ft 3 and 50kg, get 12 year olds who are bigger than that. A good chunk of the juniors and women pro fighters could punch harder than them lot and I don't watch them either, so cant say I'm too interested.
