Has there ever been a fighter considered top 3 p4p with a thin resume like GGG

But look at it this way. Let's say a promoter, we'll call him DLH, was stuck in a position where his one and only cash cow was someone like Juan Diaz. You think he would let him into the ring with Valero? That is the situation we are seeing play out now.

Everyone with a clue knows GGG will be a big favorite over Canelo. And DLH has a clue.
Before the Brook fight I would have said Canelo has no chance against GGG.
Now I give him a better chance, bigger than Brook, better hand speed, (probably) more durable. Not as fast on his feet as Brook though and not as good a counter puncher.

I was not impressed with GGG'S performance and I don't buy he likes getting hit in the face for his fans.

        By getting outlanded every round?

Let's all act like Brook was somehow dominating (he dominated probably 45 seconds of the fight)

Even in the second round (the only I gave to Brook, most boxing stats gave to GGG more landed punches)

Golovkin had a better jab and that's what made Golovkin control and won the fight, he also did a better job with the hooks.

Brook did well with the straight right and uppercuts.

They have different skillsets, Brook was a consensus TOP 10 P4P.

Golovkin had the size, but also the experience, he was the man who set the pace and controlled the fight with his jab and footwork.

        Again YDKSAB.

Golovkin probably doesn't have the skillset to be P4P TOP 5, but his real power and solid chin can make him crack the top, we'll see once he fights Canelo and Jacobs.

Danny Jacobs has about an equal KO percentage as GGG, but let me guess. they were all bums... Rigo is ducked the same as GGG but its overlooked because he was knocked down by another professional boxer before...

the answer to the question posed... is NO

It's well reported Murray has been robbed twice, so he could have been a "2 times world champion".

He beat Sturm IMO, so he didn't really lost to all world class fighter he fought.
              German hometown decision.

Martinez also escaped a loss with a hometown Argentina judging.

Sturm and Martinez more than struggled with Murray, GGG beat him every round and stopped him, so YES, SOLID PERFORMANCE FROM THE G.

Its hard to win a belt in the ring when no one wants to step in there with you.

Dibella said there was no way he would allow martinez to fight ggg.

Canelo dropped the belt to avoid him.

Saunders said ggg would beat him and eubank jr on the same night.

Eubank jr never found his pen.

Jacobs wanted to wait a year and get 4 millions.

Keep thinking that overpaying guys for bums is the way boxing should be managed. Hbo barely invests in boxing, and haymon burned through a lot of cash and has nothing show for it. His top fighters barely get in the ring.

It doesnt take a rocket scientist to see that the best should fight the best. No one wants to pay to see mismatches. All the other sports do it, why cant boxing?

                    1. You give him a better chance, but you're not gonna lay even money

                    2. He could be on the decline. He's getting up there in age already. I would say DLH definitely wants to put this fight off as long as possible. Canelo should improve and GGG should decline over the next few years.

                    3. I watched the Brook fight and had no idea what the announcers were talking about. I could very clearly see that Brook was wearing down and was going to get stopped. Pawing at his eye, motioning to the referee, his terrible arm punches and lunges in round 5 when he was already fatigued... No idea what the announcers were talking about... They should not have been talking about anything but about Brook getting worn down and the coming stoppage.

                    4. A lot of times a great offensive fighter will get exposed by a guy who can box. I just don't see Canelo as that guy. GGG will be there to be hit, but so will Canelo. And Canelo will get stopped.

he comes up short for whatever reason....that's on him...no moral victories in boxing bro

you don't get brownie points for giving a good go of it.

Solid performance by GGG but not p4p material opponent....just keeping it 100%
