As i said, they know Monroe could potentially make Canelo look unimpressive in victory. Monroe isn't good but his style is kryptonite to Canelo. Monroe won't win, but they can't allow Canelo to look bad against a huge underdog when he's meant to be the "face of boxing".
He is one of those fighters that it might be very hard to look against and can bring anybody's stock down.
Plus he is a natural 160 and Canelo might have a hard time hurting him
